About Maputo

Maputo , Mozambique

Mozambique is one of Africa's rising stars, with an upbeat atmosphere, overflowing markets and a 2780km Indian Ocean coastline waiting to be discovered. Maputo is easily one of Africa 's most attractive capitals with Mediterranean style architecture, fantastic art deco buildings, sidewalk cafés and a tropical seaside setting. There are museums, shops and markets galore and the vibrant African rhythms, spicy seafood, traditional cuisine and an easy going culture culminate in a uniquely Mozambican experience. The northern coast of Mozambique is one of Africa 's up-and-coming hot-spots, with stunning beaches, excellent diving and magical offshore islands. Go snorkeling around the Bazaruto Archipelago, sail on a dhow through mangrove channels or laze under the palms in the Quirimbas Archipelago, take an off-beat safari in the wilds of Gorongosa National Park , wander along cobbled streets past stately colonial-era buildings on Ilha deMoçambique. Using Maputo as a springboard, other premier destinations such as the Victoria Falls, the Okavango Delta, Zanzibar , the Kalahari or the wine lands of Cape Town are only a flight away.
